IPL 2022: Ambati Rayudu, Riyan Parag On RCB's Radar, Franchise Has Kept Aside 8cr And 7cr Respectively For The Duo - Reports
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has their work cut out in the auction. The franchise is notorious for shelling out loads of money for batters and failing to achieve the balance that MI or CSK generally has.
Over the years, their batting department is filled with stellar names but they’ve lacked genuine Indian batters amongst their ranks. In order to stray from their sloppy past, the franchise is keen on bringing in good Indian talent.
As per reports, Ambati Rayudu and Riyan Parag are the main targets for the franchise. Even though age isn’t on Rayudu’s side, he is a proven performer and the franchise has set aside INR 8 cr for him. West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder is also in their sights and RCB is willing to go upto INR 12 cr for the 30-year-old.
“For Holder, they have reserved Rs 12 crore and another Rs 8 crore for Rayudu and Rs 7 crore for Parag. If they spend Rs 27 crore approximately on these players, they would have another Rs 28 crore left. The core with Kohli, Maxwell, Siraj, Holder, Rayudu, and Parag will be set. Let’s hope they can get two out of preferred three,” a source close to RCB was quoted as saying by PTI.
RCB looking to rope in Shreyas Iyer for upto INR 20 cr – Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra revealed that a source told him that the Bangalore franchise is keen on bringing Shreyas Iyer on board. Since Kohli relinquished the captaincy, they need a young Indian star who can take over the mantle and Iyer is one of the most sought-after buys.
“Now I<!---->s<!---->h<!---->a<!---->n<!----> <!---->K<!---->i<!---->s<!---->h<!---->a<!---->n has been left out, it means money will be saved for Ishan Kishan and high bids will be placed on Shreyas Iyer. It could be 15-16 crores as well, someone told me that RCB has kept 20 crores for Shreyas Iyer. Shreyas Iyer could be a potential captain of KKR or RCB,” Chopra told on his YouTube channel.
The mega auction will be conducted on February 12 & 13 in Bengaluru.
