The two-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Kolkata Knight Riders have announced former Indian team bowling coach Bharat Arun as their new bowling coach for the upcoming IPL 2022 season which is expected to begin in March-April this year.
The KKR team had an excellent season in IPL 2021, as they made a phoenix-like come back from being 7th on the points table in the first half of the tournament which was played in India, to qualifying for the playoffs and then reaching the finals of the tournament. Unfortunately, KKR couldn’t beat the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final, with the MS Dhoni-led team winning its fourth title in the Indian Premier League.
Bharat Arun, a right-arm fast bowler, had a very successful domestic cricket career for Tamil Nadu and also represented the Indian team in a handful of Test matches and one-day internationals.

I Admire The Knight Riders Franchise: Bharat Arun
Bharat Arun’s tenure as Indian team head coach ended after the T20 World Cup 2021 and under his guidance, India formed a great army of pace bowlers with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini, Khaleel Ahmed, T Natarajan, and Shardul Thakur coming into the team and maturing well enough to become one of the best bowlers in the world.
He is credited along with other coaches for giving the Indian team one of the best fast bowling attacks with the likes of Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, and Bumrah taking the lead.

B Arun said of his appointment: “I’m very excited and looking forward to becoming part of a highly successful franchise, such as the Knight Riders. I have admired the Knight Riders franchise for not only being very successful in the IPL & around the world in T20 leagues but also for the way it is very professionally run”
The KKR team only retained four players in Venkatesh Iyer, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Varun Chakravarthy.
