Former Indian pace bowler RP Singh wants Chennai Super Kings wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni to consider taking a u-turn on his international retirement and play the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 for India later this year.
Dhoni, who played 90 Tests, 350 One-Day Internationals, and 98 T20I matches for the Indian team in an exemplary international career for nearly 15 years, announced retirement on August 15, 2020. Dhoni scored 17266 runs in 526 innings across all formats at an average of 44.96.
The former Indian captain is just behind Sourav Ganguly (18433), Virat Kohli (23650), Rahul Dravid (24064), and Sachin Tendulkar (34357) in most international runs by an Indian batter. Dhoni also led India in 332 matches in all three formats of the game with a 53.61 win percentage and has all three ICC trophies in his cabinet as the team leader.
MS Dhoni and his never-ending finishing stories
After his retirement from international cricket, Dhoni continues to play for IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings. The CSK stalwart relinquished captaincy duty ahead of this season and passed the baton to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja considering the franchise’s future.
Playing in his third season post-retirement from the Indian team, Dhoni seems to be rejuvenated with his batting form. In six innings, the 40-year-old scored 120 runs at a strike rate 0f 131.87. Even though Dhoni is at the peak of his playing career, the CSK talisman still holds the charm to turn matches with this acumen.

In the match against Mumbai Indians, CSK needed 16 runs in the final four balls of the match. Dhoni capitalized on the erred length of Jaydev Unadkat, trying to go full and wide but the ball came in the slot of the former CSK skipper and was punished for a straight six.
Dhoni pulled the next ball, a short one, towards the square leg boundary for a four and plundered a couple of runs on the penultimate delivery to stay on strike for the final ball where CSK needed four runs to win.
The CSK gloveman shuffled across the stumps and whipped it past the short fine leg to script another finishing chapter of his storied playing career.
“Can we request @msdhoni to come out from retirement for T20 World Cup! #Dhoni #Mahi #MIvsCSK,” RP Singh tweeted.
Dhoni’s firepower performance helped CSK record their second win in seven matches of IPL 2022. The four-time IPL champions will also gain confidence to come back in the tournament after an abysmal start.
