Given how Kolkata Knight Riders performed in the first half of the IPL 2021, not a lot of people had expected them to reach the final of the competition. KKR, unfortunately, couldn’t win the title but won hearts for their outstanding comeback in the last edition of the tournament. A lot of players from that squad won’t be playing for the franchise this year.
Some of the notable cricketers who will continue to don the KKR jersey are Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, Pat Cummins, etc. All of them are likely to be part of the playing XI ahead of their first game of IPL 2022 against CSK on 26th March 2021.
What’s interesting is the fact that the franchise will be playing under a new skipper in Shreyas Iyer. He is the man in form and would be key to the team’s fortune this year. Besides, they have also managed to acquire notable cricketers like Sam Billings, Ajinkya Rahane, Umesh Yadav to name a few. In this article, we will be taking a look at three KKR players who can win the Man of the Tournament award in IPL 2022.

-
Shreyas Iyer
Kolkata Knight Riders’ new captain, Shreyas Iyer has to be at the top of the list. He is currently in the form of his life. In the absence of Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer played at number three in the recently concluded T20 series against Sri Lanka.
He played match-defining knocks in all three games of the series and was the highest run-scorer. In 3 matches, Iyer managed to score 204 runs at a strike rate of 174.36. He continued his good form in the Test series which followed thereafter.
There is no denying that Shreyas Iyer will be key to KKR’s fortune in the upcoming edition of the tournament. It will be interesting to see how performs this year both as a captain and as a batsman.

Venkatesh Iyer
KKR’s all-rounder, Venkatesh Iyer will also be one of the players to watch out for in the upcoming edition of the tournament. Iyer was one of the biggest reasons behind KKR’s remarkable turnaround in the second leg of IPL 2022. He opened the batting alongside Gill and gave his side sensational starts at the top of the order.
In 10 matches, Iyer scored 370 runs at an average of 41. Iyer has come a long way, since. He is now a mainstay in India’s T20 side. His ability to provide a few overs with the ball makes him an indispensable asset to the team. KKR could go a long way in the tournament if he fares well this year.
-
Andre Russell
There is no denying that Kolkata Knight Riders have some notable match-winners in their squad and Andre Russell is certainly one of them. His fitness though is a major concern. He missed out on some of the games last year due to injury and looked far from his best in whatever games he played.
Russell has been out of action for a long time now. However, we all know what he can do if he gets back into form. He has been a prolific run-scorer for KKR for many years now. If he could give the team the ideal finishes on a consistent basis, then KKR really have a strong chance of winning the title this year.
