Cricket’s biggest T20 event in the world, the Indian Premier League is all set to begin with a highly anticipated encounter between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings, scheduled to be held on 26^th March 2022.

Despite the coming of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, Chennai Super Kings managed to bring their core players back into the side. Ruturaj Gaikwad would be seen opening the batting. While Moeen Ali will come at number three. For those of you who don’t know, Moeen Ali won’t be available for the first match as he is stranded in the UK after failing to secure the visa necessary to travel to India for the IPL.

The middle-order will have the likes of MS Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja etc. In the all-rounder department, they have got Dwayne Bravo back into the side. Besides, they have also bought the services of Dwaine Pretorius and Shivam Dube.

Chennai Super Kings spent a whopping amount of money for Deepak Chahar, however, as per reports, he is likely to miss the major chunk of the tournament due to injury. It will be interesting to see who replaced him in the playing XI.

Besides, they have also put their bet on Adam Milne, who will spearhead the pace attack. Faf du Plessis won’t be playing for them this year but CSK have managed to bring a like-for-like replacement in Devon Conway. It will be interesting to see how he fares in the upcoming edition of the tournament.

Kolkata Knight Riders:

After reaching the finals last year, Kolkata Knight Riders would be keen to go all the way this time around and clinch their third IPL title. The franchise will be led by a new skipper in Shreyas Iyer.

He is currently in the form of his life and this is a positive sign for KKR. Venkatesh Iyer is another one to watch out for this season. Since making his debut for KKR last year, Iyer has come a long way. He is likely to play a big role for the team this year. Apart from these two, the batting unit further comprises the likes of Nitish Rana, Ajinkya Rahane, and Sam Billings to name a few.

Mainstays such as Andre Russell and Sunil Narine will provide balance in the squad. Besides, Pat Cummins will lead the fast bowling department. He is likely to share the fast bowling duties with Umesh Yadav and Shivam Mavi. As for the spin, Varun Chakravarthy and Narine will continue to be their biggest bets.
