IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals has retained Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal for IPL 2022.

The IPL 2022 retention list is out with most of the teams having retained four players, which was the maximum limit set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The IPL 2022 will see the addition of two new franchises (from Ahmedabad and Lucknow). The majority of players will go under the hammer which brings another grand auction in the cash-rich league, just like the one in IPL 2011.

With 2583 runs, Royals captain Samson is the second-highest run-scorer of the franchise after Ajinkya Rahane. Samson made 484 runs in IPL 2021 but that wasn’t sufficient as they finished in the seventh position in the points table.

Buttler missed the second leg of IPL 2021 in UAE because of the birth of his child and stayed back at home. Buttler is a destructive opener, who can explode in the start of the innings, and has scored 1968 runs from 64 IPL innings.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is a prodigious talent for the Rajasthan outfit and scored the second-fastest fifty in just 19 balls against CSK in IPL 2021. The southpaw made 249 runs from 10 games at the strike rate of 148.21.

There will be a massive reshuffle of players as teams are allowed to retain not more than four players subject to the salary price tagged by BCCI.

According to BCCI’s retention policy, the salary of each player in case a team retains three players – Rs 15 crore for Player 1, Rs 11 crore for Player 2 and Rs 7 crore for Player 3.

That means a total of Rs 33 crore will be deducted from the team’s purse before they enter the mega auction of IPL 2022.
