CSK vs DC: To Be Compared To Mike Hussey Is Pretty Special – Devon Conway

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener Devon Conway was glad to learn about the comparisons with former Australian and CSK player Mike Hussey.

Conway played a scintillating knock of 49-ball 87 laced with seven boundaries and five sixes to power CSK to 208/6 against Delhi Capitals on Sunday.

Conway negated the spin threat of the Capitals with the highest confidence. He outplayed Kuldeep Yadav in their battle. The southpaw smashed Kuldeep Yadav three sixes and four boundaries – three of them came in a row in the 10th over.

Playing just in the fourth game of his IPL career, the New Zealand batter amassed 231 runs averaging 77 and a strike rate of 155.03. He remained unbeaten on 85 against SRH as CSK posted 202 in the first innings.

Many of the experts and fans found the batting glimpse of CSK batting coach Mike Hussey in the New Zealand player.

Hussey, who is famously called Mr Cricket for his skillful batting that earned him goodwill at the global level. Hussey played for CSK from 2008-15 and opened the batting order regularly after Matthew Hayden retired from the game.

Hussey scored 1977 runs in 58 IPL innings at 38.76 with the help of 15 half-centuries and one hundred.

Conway said it was special for him to be drawn in the similar ranks of the CSK batting coach.

“I have heard that a few times now, which is quite good. To be compared to one of the greats, Mike Hussey, is pretty special. It feels good to be possibly in that bracket,” Conway said in the post-match conference.

“He has got so much knowledge, so much experience, not only in the IPL but throughout the world. It’s very important for me as a player to continue talking to him and learning from him and keep working hard,” he added. 

CSK thrashed Capitals by 91 runs to keep their IPL 2022 campaign alive. The MS Dhoni-led side will face rivals Mumbai Indians on May 12 at the Wankhede stadium.
