CSK vs KKR: We Will Try To Do Better In Next Game – CSK Captain Ravindra Jadeja After 6-wicket Defeat In The IPL 2022 Opener

Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) newly appointed captain Ravindra Jadeja lost his first match as a captain of the franchise against the Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 6 wickets.

The first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 was played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday, March 26.

Losing the toss and batting first, Chennai Super Kings lost opener Ruturaj Gaikwad for a duck and they were reduced to 61/5. Chennai Super Kings were dependent on captain Ravindra Jadeja and former captain MS Dhoni for a good finish. The Dhoni-Jadeja duo didn’t disappoint as they were able to add 70* runs off 56 balls and helped Chennai Super Kings (CSK) post 131/5 on the board.

Chasing the target, the Kolkata Knight Riders opening duo of Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer were off to a very good start. Other batters also made decent contributions and Kolkata Knight Riders comfortably won the match in the 19th over.

Dew will be vital and it will play a part – Ravindra Jadeja

Chennai Super Kings captain Ravindra Jadeja, during the post-match presentation, said that the dew will play a part throughout the tournament. He said:

“ I think dew will be vital and it will play a part. If you win the toss, you will definitely look to bowl first.”

“In the first six overs, it was damp and in the second half, the ball was coming on. We were looking to drag the game as deep as we can.”

Ravindra Jadeja further added that the veteran all-rounder Dwayne Bravo along with other bowlers bowled very well in the match. However, he was disappointed with the batting performance of the team. Jadeja was also hopeful of better performance in the next game. He asserted:

“Bravo bowled brilliantly and everybody did a good job with the ball. As a batting unit, we didn’t get partnerships. We will try to do better next game.”
