CSK vs PBKS: Didn't Realise How Good A Player Moeen Ali Actually Is Until He Played For Chennai Super Kings: Michael Hussey

England all-rounder Moeen Ali was a big part of Chennai Super Kings’ success in IPL 2021. They won the title for the fourth time last year with Ali playing a key role in their road to glory. He scored 357 runs with the bat and took six wickets in 15 games for CSK.

CSK batting coach was very happy with the way Ali contributed to the team’s success but also admitted that he did not much about him as a player till he join them in the IPL.

Ali was bought by CSK in IPL 2021 and was asked to bat at number three replacing Suresh Raina in the line-up. The southpaw fulfilled the role to perfection and cemented his place in the side.

Talking about Moeen Ali on Star Sports — Michael Hussey said: “So, I didn’t realise how good a player he actually is. He’s a beautiful batsman, a graceful player. Just the way he times the cricket ball is fantastic.”

“Moeen Ali, honestly, is an unbelievable player. I only watched him closely for the first time when he joined the CSK squad in the last season,” Hussey further added.

Chennai Super Kings lost their first two games and are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table. Despite that, the CSK camp has shown no signs of early pressure.

Talking about the same, Hussey stated: ” It’s been one of the traits of CSK over the years. Obviously, MS Dhoni who’s captained the team for a long time and Stephen Fleming, the coach, are very calm and collected characters all the time. The first couple of games didn’t go as per the plans but we are certainly not panicking as these are early stages.”

Chennai Super Kings take on Punjab Kings at the Brabourne stadium on April 3, looking for their first win of IPL 2022.
