Former Indian off-spinner Pragyan Ojha pointed out that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has a team similar to the previous year and all it needs is good strategies and captaincy from the new skipper, Ravindra Jadeja.

CSK has lost their first two matches in IPL 2022, making it the first time ever that the 4-time champions have lost both their opening games. Ahead of the crucial clash against Punjab Kings, who are themselves coming into the game on the back of a loss, Ojha expects better from Jadeja.

I expect the new CSK captain Ravindra Jadeja to strategize better. It was the same team that won last year. Now because you are the No. 1, the expectations will increase. They will have to come up with different thinking and show something new. We’ve seen what MS Dhoni can do, now we want to see what Jadeja can do as the captain,” Ojha said.

“Momentum and rhythm are very important in this tournament” – Pragyan Ojha

CSK has been the most consistent team in the IPL, at least across the group stages. They rarely have bad phases and can usually brush off losses like no other team. If they are to get their campaign back on track, they need a win against PBKS.

Question marks will surely be there because they were the champions last year. Whenever a team comes off a championship win, it wants to start the next season from where it left. Momentum and rhythm are very important in this tournament.

If you keep winning, the momentum takes you with it and you don’t have to put in a lot of extra effort. But as soon as the momentum breaks, then bringing that rhythm back is very difficult,” he added.
