Punjab Kings won by a comfortable margin of 54 runs over Chennai Super Kings on Sunday (April 3). At the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, the defending champions were bowled out for 126 runs while chasing 181. Meanwhile, Vaibhav Arora, a youthful pacer, played a crucial role in Punjab’s victory.

His inclusion in the playing XI caused some questions at first because he was chosen over veteran pacer Sandeep Sharma, who has a wealth of IPL experience. The teenager, on the other hand, made a strong case for his decision by putting on an outstanding performance in his IPL debut. Inside the powerplay overs, he dismissed Robin Uthappa and Moeen Ali, causing a stir.

‘He bowled a good line and length’: Shikhar Dhawan

“It feels wonderful,” Shikhar Dhawan remarked during the post-match presentation. We had a fantastic comeback. It’s incredible.” In the nets, he (Vaibhav) was also causing us problems. That is why he was allowed to make his debut today. He utilized the pitch and bowled a solid line and length.”

“I’m in good spirits” (about his batting). We had already lost two wickets, so we knew we had to get back on track. Liam Livingstone hit an incredible home run to take the game away from the opposition, but I knew I had to step up as well.”

“When we lost two quick wickets, we didn’t know we’d get 180, but we kept the positive attitude going. We thought we’d be in the game if we got some early wickets,” said the Shikhar Dhawan.

On April 8, the Punjab Kings will face the Gujarat Titans at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
