Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Ravindra Jadeja was not a happy man as his side slumbered to their third consecutive loss in IPL 2022. They lost to Punjab Kings by 54 runs chasing a score of 181 to win. Chennai Super Kings were bowled out for 126 in 18 overs as it was a dismal performance from the defending champions.
Ravindra Jadeja himself scored a duck with the bat and was one of the four CSK wickets to fall inside the powerplay. The side was reduced to 23/4 inside the batting powerplay from where they could not recover. Despite Shivam Dube’s valiant 57 off 30 balls and MS Dhoni’s 23 off 28 Chennai fell way short of the target. At the post-match presentation, CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja lamented losing too many wickets inside the batting powerplay while chasing 181 to win.
“We lost too many wickets in the powerplay, we didn’t find the momentum from ball one. We need to find a way to get better and come back stronger” Jadeja said.
He also kept a word on Ruturaj Gaikwad who bagged his third consecutive single-digit score in IPL 2022. He scored 0, 1 and 1 in his first three games. The franchise retained and placed faith in him after he won the Orange Cap in CSK’s title-winning campaign. But so far the youngster had had a wretched start to IPL 2022.
We Need To Back Him: Ravindra Jadeja On Young Ruturaj Gaikwad
“We need to give him confidence, we need to back him, we all know that he’s a very good player. We’ll definitely back him and I am sure that he’ll come good” Jadeja said on Gaikwad.
He concluded by keeping a word on Shivam Dube’s blistering knock of 57 off 30 balls which was not enough to see them home.
“He (Dube) has been batting so well, he batted well today, keeping him in a good frame of mind would be the key. Definitely we’ll try our best, work hard and come back stronger” Jadeja concluded saying.
CSK are placed ninth in the points table after their third consecutive loss of the season, They next play on April 9 after a five-day break against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
