Chennai Super Kings skipper Ravindra Jadeja became the most successful bowler against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Tuesday at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. CSK thumped RCB in a 23-run win as Robin Uthappa (88) and Shivam Dube stitched 165 runs to propel CSK to a mammoth total of 216/4.
RCB faltered in their chase as CSK spinner Maheesh Theekshana, playing only his second IPL game, picked the early wickets of RCB openers Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat to shrink RCB to 42/3 in the powerplay.

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell deployed his audacious strokeplay but couldn’t turn them into a match-winning knock as Jadeja crashed into his stumps. Shahbaz Ahmed and Suyash Prabhudesai resurrected the team’s innings through their 60-run stand. The duo fell to Theekshana in the middle overs.
First victory is always special: Ravindra Jadeja
In the 16th over, Jadeja got the wickets of Wanindu Hasaranga and Aakash Deep to end with figures of 3/39. With those three wickets, Jadeja has now completed 26 wickets in 29 games against RCB, the most by any bowler. Mumbai Indians speedster Jasprit Burah is two wickets behind the CSK captain in the list. Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra amassed 23 wickets against the franchise.
“First of all, this is the first victory as a captain ever. I would like to dedicate to my wife and also the team because first victory is always special. Previous four games, we couldn’t cross the line. But as a team, we came good. As a batting unit, everybody did a good job,” Jadeja said in the post-match presentation.
“Robbie (Uthhapa) and Shivam (Dube) batted brilliantly. The bowlers contributed with the ball as well. Our management don’t put pressure on me, they are relaxed, they always come to me and motivate. As a captain, I am still picking brains of the senior players,” he added.
CSK will meet Gujarat Titans on April 17 in their next fixture at the Maharashtra Cricket Stadium in Pune.
