Ruturaj Gaikwad’s poor run in the IPL continued as he got out LBW to Josh Hazelwood in just the 4th over of the innings.
He could only manage 17 runs off 16 balls.
Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Been Very Poor This Season
Gaikwad who was the orange cap holder last season with 635 runs has started the new season with 5 low scores to his name.
He, till now has scored a 0, 1, 1, 16 and 17 in his five innings so far.
His form has been a cause of concern for the 4-time IPL champions CSK who have lost their first 4 games of the season so far.
Gaikwad was one of four players retained ahead of the new season by CSK, but he hasn’t repaid the faith so far.
Last year he formed a solid partnership with Faf du Plessis at the top who scored 633 runs. But this time, Gaikwad has struggled against the swinging ball.
After the IPL Gaikwad continued his good form with the bat for Maharashtra as well in domestic cricket but he hasn’t been at his best in the cash-rich league so far.
Several experts have called out his technic against the moving ball including the likes of Wasim Jaffer.
In the match against RCB too, Gaikwad struggled against Mohammad Siraj in the first over. He then looked settled but then tried to go for a cross-batted shot against a straighter delivery from Hazelwood which accounted for his dismissal.
He reviewed the decision but it was the umpire’s call and the call was in the favour of the bowling team.
CSK would want to get a good score on the board so that they can have a chance to defend the target and win their first game of the season.
