Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets to register their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon when the teams clashed at the DY Patil stadium in Mumbai.
Both the teams were winless before coming into the match. CSK had lost 3 games and SRH had lost 2 games.
CSK has now lost 4 games in a row and this is surely going to put a dent in their chances to qualify for the playoffs.
SRH on other hand has got a victory under their belt after losing their first two games. They would hope that they continue with the same momentum going forward.
The Match As It Happened: Chennai Super Kings vs Sunrisers Hyderabad
Earlier in the day Kane Williamson won the toss and put CSK to bat first, CSK did not have a great start as they lost Robin Uthappa in the 4th over to Washington Sundar. Ruturaj Gaikwad soon perished as well as his dismal run with the bat continued in the 4th game as well.
Ambati Rayudu and Moeen Ali had a 50+ partnership but then both of them got out one after the other in trying to accelerate the innings. MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja then tried to score some quick runs but Marco Jansen picked Dhoni’s wicket to stall CSK’s progress.
The last two overs went for 22+ runs which prompted CSK to a respectable total of 154 runs.
But as it turned out it wasn’t enough for them as Abhishek Sharma powered his way through his first IPL half-century. He and Williamson had an opening stand of 89 runs. Sharma scored 75 runs off 50 balls. After Williamson departed, Rahul
Tripathi got going from the start itself. He scored 39 runs in 15 balls. SRH won the game with 14 balls to spare. This win would give them a lot of confidence going ahead in the tournament while CSK would be scratching their heads as to what they need to do right to win a game in this edition of the cash-rich league.

Yeah…I called #CSK as Comeback Super Kings but 4 losses in first 4 games. Their qualification for the playoffs is hinging on a miracle. Unfortunately, with the next big auction three years away…it’s not just about this season anymore. #IPL2022

Breakthrough win for #SRH still below their best, but Abhishek Sharma, Washington Sundar, Rahul Tripathi and T Natarajan finding timely form. So much so that the batting of Pooran and Markram wasn’t even needed. Meanwhile CSK have dug themselves into a deeper ole.
