Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant stated that the team wanted to make sure the run chase against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) goes on till the end, ensuring they have better chances of a win.

KKR had set DC a modest target of 147 but Delhi ended up making a meal of it due to a middle-order collapse. From 82/2, they slipped to 84/5 but Axar Patel and Rovman Powell ensured the team gets over the line.

We were thinking (of the wobble) because we lost too many wickets in the middle but at the same time we thought if we take the game deep, we can win it. It is good to have Marsh back.

We haven’t thought (about this as the best XI) as a hundred percent. Khaleel got injured and that was a forced change, once he is back then we will have our best XI,” Pant said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

“We see Powell as a finisher, has to come up and do the job” – Rishabh Pant

Pant further said that Powell had been pushed down the order as he can function very well as the finisher in the side instead of playing in the top-order where he might end up struggling against the spinners.

I was just watching the ball till the end (referring to his low catch). I have been keeping a lot in the nets and that was my best catch throughout the season. We see him (Powell) as a finisher but like today when we lost too many wickets, he has to come up and do the job.

We are not thinking about the points table and take one game at a time. We have to be more clear with our plans and that is something we can improve,” Pant further added.
