The franchise rebuilt the team at the mega auction in February, just before the start of the fifteenth season. After IPL 2021, they released players like Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan, among others, to rebuild a rock-solid unit ahead of the upcoming season.

The purchase of ace Australian opener David Warner kicked off the regeneration process. He was signed by DC for Rs 6.25 crore, which was a bargain for a player of his calibre. They were able to purchase the ICC T20 World Cup 2021’Player of the Tournament’ without having to fight tooth and nail with other teams, which turned out to be a cost-effective transaction for them.

Yes, David Warner was one of our largest auction purchases since we were able to get him for as little money as feasible in cricket. So, yeah, we are pleased to have him on board,” Rishabh remarked.
