DC vs PBKS: Delhi Capitals Will Just Explode Against Punjab Kings - Ajay Jadeja

Former Indian player Ajay Jadeja said Delhi Capitals will explode in their clash against Punjab Kings on Wednesday (April 20) after the team was hit with COVID-19 cases.

The match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings has been shifted from the MCA stadium in Pune to the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai following the COVID-19 outburst in the Delhi camp.

All-rounder Mitchell Marsh and four other non-playing members of the Delhi Capitals contracted the COVID-19 virus. Physiotherapist Patrick Farhat was the first member to test positive on April 15 and sports massage therapist Chetan Kumar caught the infection on April 16.

The team doctor Abhijit Salvi social media content member Akash Mane tested positive along with Marsh when the RT-PCR tests were conducted on April 18 (Tuesday). The COVID positives are kept under isolation and medical observation and will be subjected to return to the team bio-bubble environment after returning two negative tests.

The decision to change the venue was made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after Delhi Capitals confirmed that Marsh tested positive. As a major step, the Indian board changed the venue of the game to avoid any further undetected cases during the team’s bus-long journey from Mumbai to Pune.

Delhi Capitals will just explode against Punjab Kings: Ajay Jadeja

Jadeja believes Delhi Capitals will be determined to overcome the COVID issues and perform against Punjab with fire in their belly. Jadeja also expressed sympathy with the players for going through a lot during the times of the pandemic.

“Over the last couple of days, the players must not have thought about their game. All the talk would have been regarding the medical aspect and whether they would be able to play or not. I have a feeling that if they get a chance to play, they will just explode,” Jadeja told Cricbuzz. 

“This bio-bubble life is a different kind of challenge. Normally when there are problems, you meet and sort them out. But due to the COVID thing, the players would not even have met each other over the last couple of days. Everyone has been in quarantine, tests would have been conducted. I really don’t know what kind of role the captain can play,” he added. 

Delhi Capitals will play without Marsh in their team while there is no update on PBKS skipper Mayank Agarwal, who missed the last game against SRH due to a toe injury in a training session.
