DC vs KKR: Delhi Capitals' Predicted Playing XI Against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders, DC Playing 11 vs KKR (Predicted), IPL 2022, Match 41, DC vs KKR. Delhi Capitals, placed 7th in IPL 2022 points table can consider themselves unlucky in the last game against Rajasthan Royals when they missed crossing the line with a whisker.

They will now take on one of their former skipper Shreyas Iyer’s Kolkata Knight Riders, placed 8th in match no 41 of Tata IPL 2022 on 28th April at 7:30 pm. Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will be hosting this match.

Both teams will be looking for a win desperately as they want to get into the playoffs before things get out of their hands. Delhi with 3 wins and 4 losses from 7 games is placed 7th but has the best net run rate this season compared to any other team. This is definitely an advantage for the Delhi Capitals but they would want some more winnings against their name.

Delhi Capitals’ bowling took a toll against Rajasthan Royals as RR batters Jos Buttler (116), Devdutt Padikkal(54), and skipper Sanju Samson(46*) made a mockery of DC’s bowling attack. The Capitals are definitely missing the services of their express Proteas pacer Anrich Nortje who still isn’t 100% fit. The Indian bowling contingent of DC isn’t an experienced one but they have to put up a better show against KKR if they want to progress to the playoffs.

Having been found positive for COVID-19, Delhi Capitals’ Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh and New Zealand’s keeper batter Tim Seifert are still unavailable for this match.

Lalit Yadav is a handy off-spinner but he isn’t handy with the bat at the lower order when the batters have to go berserk. His inability to hit the long ball might force Delhi Capitals team management to look beyond him and bring someone like Ripal Patel who is a brilliant striker of the cricket ball and a handy medium-pacer too. Also, Delhi Capitals might try someone like Yash Dhull or Kona Srikar Bharat in place of Sarfaraz Khan.

Delhi Capitals have been too reliant on their openers David Warner (219 runs, 3 fifties) and Prithvi Shaw (254 runs, 2 fifties) in their batting. Rishabh Pant has played some good cameos but is yet to make a fifty so far. Rovman Powell will be needed to play a big role in the middle order alongside all-rounders Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, and Shardul Thakur.

Kuldeep Yadav (13 wickets) and Khaleel Ahmed (11 wickets) have been Delhi’s main wicket-takers this season so far. Axar Patel, Mustafizur Rahman, and Lalit Yadav have chipped in with wickets and have kept the batters silent with economy rates under 8 per over. Shardul Thakur has been going at an economy rate of 9.6 runs per over and will be looking to make a comeback with the ball in this match.

Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw will open for the Delhi Capitals team in the next match of IPL 2022. The right-handed batsman will aim to come up with a good knock in the next game.

He has amassed 254 runs in 7 IPL 2022 games averaging 36.29 at an impressive strike rate of 164.93. He is Delhi Capitals’ leading run-getter so far this season and has already hit 2 fifties with a best of 61.

David Warner

David Warner commenced his IPL journey at the Delhi franchise in 2009 and after 13 years, with a bag full of experience, loads of runs under his belt, and having won the IPL title with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he returns to represent the team in 2022.

David Warner, who is the fourth-highest run-getter in the history of the IPL is one of the most destructive openers across formats and he will be keen to make a mark right from the word go for DC. David Warner is already Delhi Capitals’ 2nd highest run-getter as he had already scored 219 runs in only 5 games averaging 54.75 at an impressive strike rate of 157.55.

Sarfaraz Khan

Sarfaraz Khan is looking to revive his T20 records. He was picked up by PBKS for INR 25 lakhs at the player auctions prior to IPL 2019 and was retained ahead of the 2020 season. However, he has now moved to the Delhi Capitals and will be looking to show his batting prowess. He has scored 49 runs in 3 innings with a best of 36* in IPL 2022. He may be replaced by one amongst the likes of Mandeep Singh, uncapped Yash Dhull, or keeper KS Bharat.

His last few Ranji Trophy innings include a 177, a 226 not-out, and an unbeaten 301. In the Ranji Trophy season 2019-20 season, he scored 928 runs in 6 matches with an average of 154.67. And as Ranji Trophy made a comeback after a season, Sarfaraz Khan again smashed 275 against Saurashtra in the very first innings of the season.

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant is the skipper of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022 and will obviously lead the team in the next match as well.  After failing to score well in the opening game, the left-handed batsman slammed 43 runs and unbeaten 39 runs in the two matches against Gujarat and Lucknow respectively. He has scored 188 runs in 7 IPL 2022 games averaging 37.6 and is the franchise’s 3rd highest run-getter.

Lalit Yadav

Lalit Yadav will be another middle-order batsman for the team in the next game. The right-handed batsman has so far impressed with his batting show. He scored an unbeaten 48 in the opening game. In 6 matches so far in IPL 2022, he has piled up 112 runs averaging 28 and picked 4 scalps averaging 24.

He is Delhi’s 5th highest run-getter this season so far. His inability to hit the long ball might force Delhi Capitals team management to look beyond him and bring someone like Ripal Patel who is a brilliant striker of the cricket ball and a handy medium-pacer too.

Rovman Powell

Rovman Powell might be another middle-order batsman for the team in the next match of IPL 2022. In the matches so far, the West Indies player has not managed to come up with a good knock. He has scored only 67 runs in 7 IPL 2022 matches averaging a paltry 11.17. However, the right-handed batter is a hard-hitter and the team needs him in the lower middle order. With the absence of Mitchell Marsh and Tim Seifert due to Covid-19, he will get to play some more matches despite poor form.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel

Axar Patel will certainly be the spin all-rounder that the team can go in with in the next match of IPL 2022. The left-handed batsman played a match-winning knock of 38 runs in the opening game. So far in IPL 2022, Axar Patel has scored 79 runs in 5 innings and has picked 3 scalps with a best of 10/2 coming in the game against Punjab. He is the 6th highest run-getter for DC this season so far.

Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur will be one of the pacers on the team in the next game. The right-arm pacer has not tasted much success in the tournament so far. Shardul Thakur will look to come up with a better bowling show in the next game. He played a crucial knock of 11-ball-22 in the opening match. He has amassed 80 runs averaging 20 at a staggering strike rate of 186.04 in IPL 2022 with the bat.

He has picked up 4 scalps in 7 IPL 2022 games averaging 56 conceding runs at an economy rate of 9.6 which is surprising given Shardul Thakur’s credentials. He will certainly look to make amends to his bowling statistics against KKR.

Khaleel Ahmed

Khaleel Ahmed has 11 scalps in 6 IPL 2022 games averaging 17.27 and will retain his place in the playing XI against KKR. Left-arm medium-pacer Khaleel Ahmed has been a proven performer. He was initially inducted into the Delhi Capitals side for the 2016 IPL.

He was subsequently bought by SRH and has been retained since. He had a successful season in 2019 picking up 19 wickets that included a 3-wicket haul and a unique celebration style that caught everyone’s attention. Three years later, he returns to the DC after being bought for INR 5.25 Crore.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav, the left-arm chinaman spinner of Delhi Capitals has scalped 13 wickets in 7 matches so far at an impressive average of 17.38. He also bowled a match-winning spell of 3 wickets in the opening game, winning the man of the match award for his 3/18 against Mumbai.

His best bowling figures in IPL 2022 so far came against his former franchise Kolkata Knight Riders in a winning cause as he picked 4/35. He was awarded MOM in that match as well. He was the MOM in the last match against Punjab as well but the expert opinion was that Axar Patel should’ve been awarded. He is the 2nd highest wicket-taker so far after Rajasthan’s Yuzvendra Chahal.

Mustafizur Rahman

The left-arm pacer from Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman is playing his 5th IPL season and will be looking to add a few more wickets to his tally as the Delhi Capitals look to clinch the title. He has picked 5 scalps in 6 games this season averaging 37.8 and conceding runs at an economy rate of 7.87.
