IPL 2022: For Batsmen Like Rishabh Pant And Shreyas Iyer, Can't Offer Too Many Loose Balls - Rashid Khan
Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan will be representing the new franchise, Gujarat Titans (GT) in the upcoming IPL 2022 season. Ahead of the start, Rashid spoke about the batters he needs to be wary about and what he needs to do to deal with them.
Two of the biggest threats, as per Rashid, are the likes of Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer. The confidence they carry in their batting ability is what sets them apart from others, Rashid revealed.
“Pant has his strong zones and weak points, and I know where I should be bowling. Against batsmen like Pant and Shreyas Iyer, you can’t offer too many loose balls. As soon as you bowl those deliveries to them, it’s pretty easy for them, because they have that confidence.”
“The power they have and the belief in their shots is what allows them that extra energy to clear the boundary easily. So for such batsmen, I always have it in my mind that, ‘no mistake, no loose balls to them’. Just hit the right area. Whatever I’m bowling, make sure it’s the best enough, whether it’s a wrong one or a flipper. My line and length should be good,” he mentioned.
“My mindset is never that everything depends on me” – Rashid Khan
Despite being the best spinner wherever he goes, Rashid doesn’t think that everything relies on him. The leggie has proven time and again that he is a great team man and gives everything on the field, whether he is batting, bowling, or fielding.
“My mindset is never that everything depends on me and I have to win matches for my team. When you start thinking about all that, your game gets affected. I like to keep it simple and I just want to give my 100 percent effort in every match. The results are not in my control, but I can always control the effort and process. I have never taken extra pressure,” Rashid added.
