Punjab Kings broke the back of Gujarat Titans here on Tuesday as they marched to their 5th win of the season.

They restricted GT to just 143 in their first innings who had decided to bat first after winning the toss.

Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers for PBKS as he picked up 4 wickets for just 32 runs.

Arshdeep Singh Has Been Very Good For Us: Kagiso Rabada

Kagiso Rabada impressed with the ball both in the powerplay and in the end overs. In the powerplay, he got the wicket of Wriddhiman Saha who was looking to take the game on. Saha’s wicket stalled things for GT.

Rabada then returned to dismiss Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan on consecutive deliveries to break the back of GT’s batting. Both these batters have been very instrumental in GT’s success in their first season.

Rabada then returned to pick the wicket of Lockie Ferguson who was trying to add some quick runs at the back end of the innings. Rabada’s 4 wicket haul took him to the 3rd spot in the purple cap list. He now has 17 wickets from 9 games.

Rabada has been well supported by Arshdeep Singh. Arshdeep may not have the wickets to show his name but he has been amongst the best death bowlers in the season so far in terms of economy.

“He’s got a lot of nerve, he has shown that, especially in the death overs. He reads the game well, he’s able to execute his skill and he’s done it game in game out. He knows what he wants to work on, I am not saying too much to him”, Rabada said about Arshdeep in the post-match presentation.

On his own performance he said, “As a bowler, you have to bowl in all stages of the game. It’s about figuring out how to be the most effective in each stage of the game.”

Punjab won their first game after a string of losses and Rabada on that said, “Finally we got the win. After being a bit inconsistent, we just wanted to string a couple of wins under our belt. We bowled well to restrict them. Our batters did the job. As a team, we had a good outing.”

PBKS are now 5th on the points table with 10 points.
