Aakash Chopra urges Matthew Wade to be left out of the Gujarat Titans’ starting XI for the IPL 2022 final against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Wade seems to have had a disappointing IPL season, scoring just 149 runs at a dismal average of 16.55 in nine games. He did, however, score 35 runs in the Titans’ Qualifier 1 victory against the Royals, and he is expected to be kept in the lineup for the title game.

In a video previewing the RR-GT clash, Aakash Chopra recommended a slight adjustment the Gujarat Titans could perhaps make.

He explained: “Genuinely, I would like to see Lockie (Ferguson) replace Wade and Sai Sudharsan replace Sai Kishore. Matthew Wade is Australia’s World Cup-winning player.”

“He hasn’t done much this year, but based on the last two innings, his bat appears to be striking the ball marginally better. He hasn’t stayed true to the trust that was placed in him,” Aakash Chopra added.

Chopra stated: “Hardik Pandya is going to score runs. David Miller has indeed been phenomenal. Tewatia scores run as needed. Nothing is suffering from a lack of bowling. Rashid Khan has not taken as many wickets as others, but he is extremely economical. They are no longer concerned. Gujarat has very few issues.”

RR and GT will face off in the long-awaited IPL 2022 final on Sunday, May 29. At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the competition is set to begin at 8:00 PM IST.
