Former Indian player Sanjay Manjrekar has supported Rajasthan Royals (RR) in-form batsman Jos Buttler to come out on top of the IPL 2022 final against Gujarat Titans (GT).
Manjrekar noted that Jos Buttler was in fantastic form in the first half of this year’s edition and found it difficult to find his tempo later in the season. Even so, he demonstrated his class again with a match-winning innings against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Qualifier 2.
According to the former India cricketer, the GT bowling attack must figure out how to stop the roguish batter because he has the potential to take the match away by having scored big runs. Manjrekar made this statement on ESPNcricinfo ahead of the summit battle.
“I believe Jos Buttler will also score in the final. It has been an exciting race for him, but he’s handled himself well. He was on fire in the first seven matches before slumping in the second half. But he came back and single-handedly got the win for RR against RCB. I am certain he will score big, and GT would have to do something to break him.”
‘They will not depend entirely on R. Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal’: Sanjay Manjrekar
Sanjay Manjrekar also stated that RR would not depend solely on the spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin in the final. He emphasized that perhaps the pitch in Ahmedabad has not yet turned much and that the team will need their pace bowlers to rise to the occasion.
“We thought Yuzvendra Chahal and the other bowlers would be game-changers for RR. Their death bowling, on the other hand, was indeed a bit of a gamble. However, they have discovered a new formula and will undoubtedly make the best of the situation on this pitch” Sanjay Manjrekar Added.
On Sunday, May 29, RR and GT will square off in the eagerly anticipated IPL 2022 final. The competition is set to begin at 8:00 PM IST at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
