GT vs RR: Gujarat Titans To Go Through If The Match Is Washed Out

The weather in Kolkata hasn’t been the best for the last week or so. And if the forecast is to be believed rain is expected during the game too.

There haven’t been many games in the IPL which have been affected by rain in recent times but there is every possibility that the match between GT and RR could be interrupted by rain.

If rain does interrupt the game and absolutely no play is possible then Gujarat Titans will go straight to the finals because they finished top on the points table. RR on the other hand will have to play Qualifier 2.

But to avoid a situation where things have to go to a decision where standings in the points table need to be taken into account, there is a new rule which is going to apply for the very first time in the history of the tournament.

In case, not even a shortened game is possible because of rain, a super over will decide the fate of the sides, if the conditions permit one over a side match.

It’s only even when the super over is not possible that the team who finished higher on the points table will move ahead. In this case, GT will move ahead.
