GT vs SRH: The Game Could Have Gone Either Way - Kane Williamson

Sunrisers Hyderabad after winning 5 games on the trot, came short against table-toppers Gujarat Titans on the last ball of the match. GT needed 3 off the last ball and Rashid Khan hit a six to win the game for them. Kane Williamson after the game said that the match could have gone either way.
GT needed 22 off the last over, but Marco Jansen couldn’t defend it as Rashid and Rahul Tewatia combined to hit 3 sixes in the over including one on the last ball to win the game for their side.

The Match Ebbed and Flowed Throughout The 40 Overs: Kane Williamson
Kane Williamson lost the toss for the first time in the ongoing tournament and his team batted first. They didn’t get to a good start as they lost Williamson and Rahul Tripathi early in the powerplay. Then Abhishek Sharma and Aiden Markram pulled things back for Sunrisers Hyderabad as both of them hit the 50s but GT then made a mini-comeback to get 4 wickets in the end. But Shashank Singh scored 25 runs in the last over and helped SRH post a total of 195 runs on the board.
SRH’s bowling was impressive for the most part of the game as Umran Malik got his first five-wicket haul in IPL but that last over by Jansen proved to be the difference.
“It was a fantastic game of cricket that ebbed and flowed throughout the whole 40 overs really. From our perspective, when you have two really strong sides that are playing good cricket going at it, the game is played at very small margins. As we saw going into that last over, it could’ve gone either way. So great learning for us as a side, first time batting first for us as well, so a lot of good learning. Another strong performance against top of the table opposition,” Williamson said after the game.

“Fantastic finish [in the first innings] and Shashank has obviously been in the side for five games now and hasn’t quite had an opportunity, so he came out and played beautifully well and gave us a great opportunity to post a strong total”, he further added.
When asked about Umran Malik’s performance he said, “He’s sort of been bowling beautifully really and making a difference but it was only a matter of time before he would have a day like this. An outstanding performance from him, a match-winner there.”
Despite the loss, SRH are in a good position on the points table as they have won 5 and lost just 3.
