Gujarat Titans’ Captain Hardik Pandya Begins Preparations For IPL 2022; Camp Likely To Be In Ahmedabad

Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Hardik Pandya has begun preparations for the upcoming Indian Premier League’s 15th season, the IPL 2022. Pandya will be captaining the new IPL franchise in their first season of the tournament. GT had picked Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill before the IPL 2022 auction.

In the auction, Gujarat bought eight uncapped players for 18.7 crores and 12 capped for 33.15 crores. Gujarat’s most expensive player was Lockie Ferguson for 10 crores and the next highest-paid cricketer was Rahul Tewatia for 9 crores. Other notable buys were Jason Roy, Matthew Wade, Wriddhiman Saha, Vijay Shankar, Mohammad Shami, and R Sai Kishore amongst others.

The IPL 2022 season will be played from March 26-May 29. A total of 70 league matches will be played across four international standard venues in Mumbai and Pune. The venue for the playoff matches will be decided later.

Hardik Pandya Begins Practice In Baroda; Gujarat Titans Likely To Set Camp In Ahmedabad

Hardik Pandya was not retained by the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise and this tournament will be a huge one for the all-rounder who has struggled with fitness since his back surgery in 2018.

Sources have said that Pandya is training alongside Abhinav Manohar, Darshan Nalkande, Varun Aaron in Baroda under the watchful eyes of head coach Ashish Nehra.

The sources also said that the Gujarat Titans (GT) will likely set up camp in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad.

“Hardik Pandya, Abhinav Manohar, Darshan Nalkande, Varun Aaron are currently training at the IPCL ground in Baroda. The camp kick started on February 25 and it will conclude on March 2. The preparation camp for the entire team is most likely to be held in Ahmedabad,” sources told ANI.

The tournament will be played across four international standard venues in Mumbai and Pune. The venue for the playoff matches will be decided later. Mumbai, Wankhede Stadium will host 20 matches while 15 matches will be played at Brabourne Stadium (CCI). DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai will host 20 matches while Pune’s MCA International Stadium will conduct 15 matches.

Group A will consist of Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, and Lucknow Super Giants. Group B will consist of Chennai Super Kings, Sunrises Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans.
