Gujarat Titans registered their first victory in IPL against fellow debutants Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). All-rounder Rahul Tewatia smashed an unbeaten 40* to help the Gujarat Titans win by five wickets in a roller-coaster match.

Tewatia swept and reverse-swept in his spectacular knock and added 60 runs with South Africa’s David Miller before the latter departed in the 18th over. Tewatia was joined by Abhinav Manohar, who managed to hit three fours in his seven-ball stay before Tewatia smashed the winning boundary.

Mohammed Shami bowled a phenomenal spell of 3/25, he used his nip-backer deliveries to get the wickets of Quinton de Kock and Manish Pandey. Shami got the precious wicket of KL Rahul in the very first ball of the game. After the early damage was caused, LSG posted 158/6 riding with the fifties of Deepak Hooda (55) and youngster Ayush Badoni (54).

Gujarat Titans signed Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, Afghanistan legspinner Rashid Khan and opener Shubman Gill in their initial draft signings. They bought a total of 20 players boasting of youngsters like Manohar, Tamil Nadu spinner Sai Kishore and Vidarbha pacer Darshan Nalkhande.

Miller and New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson were the best overseas picks by the Ahmedabad-based franchise.
