Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, Shubman Gill All Set To Be A Part Of The New Ahmedabad Franchise For IPL 2022 - Reports

According to ESPNcricinfo, Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan and Indian opening batsman Shubman Gill are all set to join the new Ahmedabad franchise for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Former Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Hardik Pandya was a key member of the MI franchise for several years, however, he was not retained by the 5-time IPL Champions for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Also, the Baroda all-rounder is expected to lead the Ahmedabad team in the high profile tournament.

Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan was a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise but he didn’t want to be the second retention of SRH so he decided to leave the franchise and Shubman Gill was a member of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and he was let go by the franchise as the franchise retained Varun Chakravarthy, Venkatesh Iyer, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell.

Ashish Nehra, Gary Kirsten To Be A Part Of Ahmedabad’s Coaching Staff

The coaching staff of the Ahmedabad franchise will be led by former India pacer Ashish Nehra, and former South Africa head coach Gary Kirsten. Also, former England batter Vikram Solanki, who is currently Surrey’s head coach, will be the team director.

Previously, the trio of Nehra, Kirsten and Solanki have worked at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL)

The Ahmedabad franchise will be owned by the CVC capital. Notably, CVC Capital successfully bid with Rs 5,625 crore for Ahmedabad. Also, Lucknow will be joining the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 and the RPSG group won the rights for the Lucknow franchise after a whopping Rs 7,090 crore bid.

For retaining three players in the team IPL has set the amounts of INR 15 crore, INR 11 crore and INR 7 crore for franchises. However, the reports of ESPNcricinfo claim that Ahmedabad have paid both Hardik and Rashid the same amount – INR 15 crore and Gill will be paid INR 7 crore.
