Prodigious Delhi batter Yash Dhull said he is excited to play for Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals in the  IPL 2022 season.

Yash, who led the India U19 team to their fifth ICC World Cup title last month in the Caribbean, garnered bids from Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in the mega auction. The Delhi outfit was successful in purchasing the youngster for INR 50 lakhs.

It is an incredible feeling to play for Delhi Capitals: Yash Dhull

Dhull announced himself in domestic cricket in a fashionable manner scoring twin hundreds against Tamil Nadu in his Ranji Trophy debut. The 19-year-old  feels ecstatic to play for his home team and also wants to learn the captaincy tricks from Pant.

“I am so excited to be able to play with the Delhi Capitals. Delhi is my home team and playing for the home team is a different feeling altogether. I started my career with Delhi and played all my cricket for Delhi and will now be playing IPL cricket for Delhi. It is an incredible feeling,” Dhull told TimesofIndia.com.

“Rishabh bhaiya is a great motivator and a very good captain. I want to learn the nuances of a leadership role from him. He is so energetic on the field. The way he enjoys his game and keeps motivating and encouraging his teammates, from behind the wickets, is amazing. 

“DC has an experienced side. There are big stars in their dressing room. I am going in after playing Under-19 cricket and will be facing a new challenge. I will be learning how to hold my nerve in fast-moving games. It is going to be a huge learning experience for me,” he added.

Dhull has scored 479 runs in six innings at an average of 119.75 in the Ranji Trophy 2022 so far. The youngster slammed an unbeaten 200 against Chattisgarh in his last innings.

Dhull joined the likes of Mohammad Kaif, Kohli, Unmkut Chand and Prithvi Shaw to win the U19 World Cup for India as their captain. The 19-year-old amassed 229 from four matches at an average of 76.33, he scored a match-winning 110 against Australia U19 in the semi-final.
