New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham was left discontented with one of the new rules of IPL 2022. On Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced some major changes for the new season of the Indian Premier League.

The DRS has increased from one to two per innings, in case a team is unable to field a playing XI amid COVID-19 intricacy then the Indian board will reschedule the match for another date. But in case the rescheduling of the fixture is not possible then the matter will be referred to the IPL Technical Committee and its decision will be the final word on the issue.

The BCCI also paid attention to the recent suggestions made by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and have instilled the rule of not allowing the batter’s change the strike during a catch dismissal.

“Upon a catch dismissal, irrespective of whether the batsmen have crossed or not the incoming batsman will take the strike, except if it’s the last ball of the over,” the BCCI informed the teams, as reported by Cricbuzz.

Neesham is very much active on social media and is regularly seen in either banter or altercation with his followers on Twitter. The 31-year-old player on Wednesday ‘quote tweeted’ a post from a media publication to express his dissent on not allowing the batters to cross the crease in a caught dismissal.

“I don’t really understand the point of this. Has this rule ever been a problem? Also rewards batsmen who don’t stay aware of the match situation. Don’t like it,” Neesham wrote on his official Twitter handle.

Neesham played three matches for Mumbai Indians last year but didn’t perform up to his calibre as he didn’t score a single run but returned with five wickets with the ball. The New Zealand all-rounder was released by the five-time defending champions but was roped in by Rajasthan Royals for his base price of INR 1.50 crores in the IPL 2022 auction.
