IND vs SA: 3 Players Who Can Be Drafted Into The ODI Squad On The Basis Of IPL 2021 Performance. India are all set to begin the South Africa tour on Boxing Day. The first of the three-match Test series will be held from 26th December to 30th December 2021. Following the Test series, India will be playing three ODI series, scheduled to be played between 19th and 23rd January 2021.

Notably, Rohit Sharma has been appointed as the new captain in the ODI format. The upcoming ODI series against South Africa will be his first assignment as a full-time captain in one-day internationals. Though, the squad for the ODI series hasn’t been announced yet.

The selection committee is likely to pick the squad very soon. India hasn’t played ODIs for a long time and thus Chetan Sharma-led committee might also consider the performances in the IPL 2021 while picking the squad. Ruturaj Gaikwad is hailed as a rising star in the making. He has made a plethora of runs in the last 6 months in different competitions. Gaikwad had a sensational IPL 2021 campaign. He gave CSK wonderful starts in the powerplay and also made sure he convert the starts into big scores.

He was one of the most consistent batsmen in the tournament and helped the side make a remarkable comeback after finishing seventh on the table last season. Ruturaj Gaikwad finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer, with 635 runs in 16 matches at an average of 45.35.

Gaikwad played a stellar 50-ball 70 in the Eliminator to help his team reach the final. CSK went on to win the title after beating KKR in the summit clash.

Avesh Khan was the find for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021. His performance didn’t allow Ishant Sharma to play a single match in IPL 2021. Khan was outstanding both in the powerplay as well as in death overs.

He picked the third most number of wickets in the powerplay and thereby played an influential role in helping Delhi Capitals reach the playoffs. Overall, Avesh Khan picked 24 wickets in 16 matches in IPL 2021 at an impressive economy of less than 8. Avesh Khan has great pace and consistency and can be lethal on the pitches in South Africa.

Harshal Patel is another bowler who is likely to make a case for himself for ODIs. He had a dream run with the ball in IPL 2021. Turning up for RCB, Harshal Patel returned with a record-equaling 32 wickets in 15 matches, including a hat-trick against Mumbai Indians.

He picked most of his wickets with his deceptive off-cutters. His ability to vary his pace has made him a T20 specialist. On the back of his impressive showing in IPL 2021, Harshal Patel made his T20 international debut during the T20 series against New Zealand. His control and ability to pick wickets at crucial stages in the games might help him in getting picked for ODI series against South Africa as well.
