IPL 2022: 3 Most Memorable Encounters Of The Season For Gujarat Titans (GT)

1. GT vs RR (May 29, Ahmedabad)

The Titans outsmarted Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in front of a raucous home crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium to lift their maiden IPL trophy in the first season.

Skipper Hardik led from the front in the important clash of the tournament and starred with both bat and ball. Hardik claimed three wickets for 17 runs from four overs with the dismissals of Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler and Shimron Hetmyer.

Barring Buttler (39) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (22), no other batter managed to score above 20 as the Royals posted a meagre score of 130 in the first innings.

Hardik and opener Shubman Gill put a calm and clinical 63-run stand for the third wicket to overcome the threat imposed by Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna early in the chase.

Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Hardik on 34 to end the partnership between him and Gill. David Miller just continued from where Hardik had left.

Miller whacked Ashwin for a six over mid-wicket before hammering Prasidh for a couple of boundaries.

Gill hit the winning shot – a six off Obed McCoy over square leg- to finish the game with 11 balls to spare and etched Gujarat Titans’ name on the studded IPL trophy.

2. GT vs SRH (April 27, Mumbai)

After youngster Umran Malik’s fiery spell almost turned the match in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s corner. Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia held their nerves to clinch a spectacular run chase in the slog overs.

While chasing 196, Gujarat Titans were 140/5 at the end of 16th over, needing 56 off 24 balls. Rahul Tewatia smashed T Natarajan a four and a six in the penultimate over to bring the equation to 22 runs in the last six balls.

Tewatia smashed Jansen for a six on the first ball followed by Rashid’s three sixes in the last four deliveries to pull off a sensational win.

3. GT vs CSK (April 17, Pune)

Gujarat Titans pulled off a spectacular heist as they rode on South African batter David Miller’s remarkable unbeaten 94 off 51 balls.

Miller stitched 70 runs with stand-in skipper Rashid Khan, who blazed 40 runs in 21 balls to bridge the gap in their chase.

Rashid walked in to bat when Gujarat Titans, sans regular skipper Hardik Pandya, were reeling at 87 for five.

Rashid clobbered three sixes and a four in Jordan’s 18th over to bring down the equation to 23 in the last two overs. Bravo picked successive wickets of Rashid and Alzarri Joseph to keep CSK alive in the game.

It was Miller who took Titans past the finishing line with a six and a four off Jordan before plundering two runs to complete a marvellous victory.
