IPL 2022: 3 Players From Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Who Can Win The Orange Cap

Ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, Sunrisers Hyderabad retained only three players, namely Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad and Umran Malik. Surprisingly, they decided to let go of world-class players like David Warner and Rashid Khan. They have managed to build a new squad from scratch for the upcoming edition. 

They brought the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan back into the team. To strengthen their batting unit, SRH has put faith in Nicholas Pooran, Aiden Markram, Rahul Tripathi. 

As far as all-rounders are concerned, they bought the likes of Washington Sundar and Romario Shepherd. How well they will fare this season remains to be seen. In this article, we take a look at three SRH players who can win the orange cap in IPL 2022.

1. Kane Williamson 

Sunrisers Hyderabad opted to let go of David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, and Jason Holder for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. However, they have trusted in the abilities of Kane Williamson and opt to continue with him as the skipper. 

Kane Williamson will have a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders to do the bulk of the scoring. With Bairstow and Warner both no longer in the team, Kane Williamson is likely to open the batting for the team this year. He scored 266 runs in 10 matches last year at an average of 44.33, including two half-centuries. 

2. Rahul Tripathi 

Rahul Tripathi has been a prolific run-scorer in the Indian Premier League. Over the last few years, he has played numerous match-winning knocks for Kolkata Knight Riders. Last year, he managed to score 397 runs in 17 matches at an average of 28.35. However, the 31-year-old won’t be playing for KKR in the upcoming edition of the tournament. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad bought his services for a whopping amount of INR 8.5 crores at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. He will be key to the team’s fortune and could end up scoring the most runs in the tournament. 

3. Nicholas Pooran 

Nicholas Pooran endured a horrendous IPL season last year. Playing for Punjab Kings, Nicholas Pooran could only manage to score 85 runs in 12 matches at an average of 7.72 and a strike rate of 111.84. As a result of that, Punjab Kings released him for the next edition of the tournament.

 However, despite that, the West Indies cricketer caused a bidding war at the auction and Sunrisers Hyderabad eventually bought him for a whopping amount of INR 10.75 crores. It is more to do with the kind of form he is at present. Nicholas Pooran has been consistently scoring runs for West Indies in white-ball cricket. He would be hoping to translate that in IPL this year.
