Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) added 20 players to go with the three players they had retained ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. The franchise plays its first game against Rajasthan Royals in Pune on March 29 at 7.30 pm. It is the fifth game of the campaign and the first game for the respective teams.

The IPL 2022 will be a 10-team affair with two groups of five teams each. SRH are placed in group B alongside CSK, RCB, PBKS and Gujarat Lions. A total of 74 matches will be played across 65 days across four venues in Maharashtra. . Wankhede and DY Patil Stadium will host 20 matches each while the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai and MCA Stadium in Pune will play hosts to 15 games each.

SRH have been amongst the consistent teams in the IPL. They have made the playoffs every season barring 2021 when they finished last on the points table. This time around, they have got a good enough squad with their first XI looking very formidable. Kand Williamson has done a very good job with the side barring their only blip last season. This time around, the responsibility only increased with the side releasing its key players David Warner, Rashid Khan and Jonny Bairstow. Williamson was always one of their key players and in IPL 2022 will have a larger role to play both as a batter and a captain.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

With no Rashid Khan, Bhuvi will be the go-to bowler for SRH. He was rebought by the franchise for 4.2 crores. He will have to lead the bowling attack with a young group of bowlers. He suffered from injury issues in the last two seasons in the IPL. However, if he takes care of his fitness and plays for SRH consistently, he can be a potential candidate for winning the man of the Tournament in IPL 2022.

Umran Malik

Malik impressed the owners of ERH in the last few games that he played in IPL 2021. He was ultimately retained ahead of IPL 2022 and heading into a new season, he is the team’s biggest hope. The cricket world saw his potential last season in the IPL and the franchise would ideally expect bigger things from him in IPL 2022. Watch out for his pace, which made many batsmen uncomfortable in UAE last year.

Nicholas Pooran

Pooran always has a bit of X-factor about him. He was roped in by SRH for a whopping 10.75 crores. He will head into the IPL with some form having played s few innings of substance against India in the T20I series recently. Given the potential and the X-factor that he possesses, the southpaw can be one of the contenders for the Man of the Tournament award.

Marco Jansen

Jansen was one of the foreign players recruited by SRH. He played for Mumbai Indians in the second leg of IPL 2021. Very recently he played in the Test series against India and picked wickets across the last two Test matches, He too has raw [pace which can make many batsmen uncomfortable. Jansen bowling in tandem with Malik can be a difficult prospect for the opposition batters.
