IPL 2022: A Modern-Day Cricketer Needs To Be A '360 Degree Player': Former CSK Batter

Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player S. Badrinath trusts that to find lasting success in modern-day cricket it is critical to be a “360-degree player”, adding that one likewise must be in great shape and furthermore be mentally tough to be an overall good player. 

The last couple of versions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has featured the significance of all-rounders, with players like Rashid Khan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Glenn Maxwell, and Rahul Tewatia, among others, becoming hot properties in the auction due to their capacity to bat and bowl.

Badrinath, who played six IPL seasons (2008-2013), scoring 1441 runs in 95 games, added that a hitter needs to sharpen each shot that will be played, while a bowler “needs to learn every variation” to be a complete cricketer in the present proficient world. 

“Modern-day cricketer needs to be a 360 degree player. How do you become a 360 degree cricketer? A batsman needs to learn every shot; a bowler needs to learn every variation. You have to be physically fit while also being mentally strong,” opined Badrinath. 

“Any cricketer whose 360 degree is ready, that cricketer will cut above the rest and go higher. I think it’s important to embrace the environment,” said Badrinath. 

Another previous CSK player N Jagadeesan, who has been with Chennai Super Kings for the last four seasons, playing two matches in IPL 2022, underscored the way that there is not a viable replacement for hard work to become famous in worldwide cricket.

“Hard work is something which really pays off and there is no substitute to hard work,” he said. 

A Season To Forget For CSK

IPL 2022 was only the second season when they were unable to finish in the top four and this time their difficulties weren’t simply restricted to on-handle displays. Two days before the season started, CSK reported Ravindra Jadeja would be succeeding MS Dhoni as their skipper, seen as a stage for remembering the future.

Jadeja could oversee two successes out of eight endeavors before the captaincy returned to Dhoni – intentionally or otherwise, is impossible to say. In any case, it didn’t change their season decisively by the same token.
