Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has picked the playing XI for Delhi Capitals for their first few matches. The franchise kick off their IPL 2022 campaign by playing against Mumbai Indians in their fist ga, me on March 27 at the Brabourne stadium.

The franchise will miss the services of premier pacer Anrich Nortje who has arrived in India ahead of IPL 2022. Delhi will also miss the services of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh who will be busy with international commitment against Pakistan. In his recent Youtube video, Chopra picked the playing XI of the side for their first few games.

“I see Tim Seifert opening with Prithvi Shaw. I will say play Kona Bharat at No. 3, you have the option of Yash Dhull and Mandeep Singh as well, but I will say Kona. Rishabh Pant at No. 4, Rovman Powell at No. 5, Sarfaraz at No. 6. This makes it your top six. This is a weak team,” said Chopra while picking up the top six of the line-up.

Speaking about the bowling attack of the side, Aakash Chopra said that the side lacks a sixth bowling option.

“You cannot play a sixth bowler at all, this is the sad reality for the Delhi Capitals in the first three games. It is only going to change once Mitchell Marsh comes. Your batting is also weak for the first three matches, forget about the bowling’s balance,” Chopra highlighted the big problem for the franchise ahead of the season.

He then picked up the bowlers to complete the Capitals lineup. Aakash Chopra picked Shardul Thakur at seven followed by Axar Patel at eight.

“After that, you will see Axar and Shardul at No. 7 and No. 8. Both are all-rounders, Shardul four overs – remains to be seen, he hasn’t played cricket for a long time, he took a break for the entire Sri Lanka series.”

The former Indian opener concluded by picking the last three players to complete the DC XI. Aakash Chopra picked Kuldeep Yadav, Lungi Ngidi and Mustafizur Rahman as specialist bowlers to complete the playing XI
