IPL 2022 Auction: 3 Openers Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Can Target

Sunrisers Hyderabad heads into the IPL 2022 mega auction with a remaining purse of 68 crores. They need to fill up 22 spots with seven overseas players in them as well. SRH has the second-highest remaining purse among all teams ahead of the mega auction. They have retained Kane Williamson (INR 14 crore), Abdul Samad (INR 4 crore), Umran Malik (INR 4 crore) in the retention window.

The IPL 2022 season will be a 10-team affair with two new franchises Lucknow and Ahmedabad added onto the scene. The season is expected to start from March 27 and run till the end of May. A total 0f 590 players will be participating in the upcoming auction. Among them, there are 370 Indian players and 220 overseas players. Jason Roy

Roy played a few games for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2021 and looked good in them. He is an attacking option up at the top. Roy has played across various T20 leagues all over the world and is an experienced T20 cricketer. He gets the team off to quick starts which will be his role for any team he plays for. He is a brilliant fielder as well anywhere in the field.

Alex Hales

SRH is the only franchise that picked Hales in of the IPL seasons earlier. He can be a brilliant addition to the team given that not many squads are expected to bid for him at the mega auctions. He is still an unknown commodity in IPL cricket and that is where SRH have a real chance of buying him. He plays in the BBL and PSL regularly scoring a hefty amount of runs every year. He has fallen out of favour in the national side and thus will be available throughout the season as well.

Rassie van der Dussen

Van der Dussen generally bats in the middle-order for South Africa. However, he can be slotted as an opener and Sunrisers can take that gamble with him. He has been in good batting form in recent times. He scored a century in the white-ball series against India and scored crucial runs in the Test series as well. He has performed well enough to garner the attention of the franchises in the upcoming mega auction.
