India’s limited over’s domestic cricket competition, Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021-22 concluded on 26th December 2021. Rishi Dhawan-led Himachal Pradesh stunned Tamil Nadu to win their first-ever title in the history of the competition.

Riding on impressive knocks from Dinesh Karthik, Indrajith, and Shahrukh Khan, Tamil Nadu posted a formidable score of 314 runs in the final of the tournament. Himachal Pradesh, however, didn’t succumb to the pressure and exhibited even better performance with the bat in the second innings. The opener Shubham Arora set the tone with a 136-run knock at the top of the order. Later, Amit Kumar (74 off 79) and Rishi Dhawan (42 off 23) played stellar knocks to help the team win the game by 11 runs.

In the span of 28 days, we have had some stellar performances with both bat and ball in the tournament.  The IPL franchises must have been watching those performances carefully with the mega-auction coming ahead. In this article, let’s take a look at the five star performers from the tournament who could bag a Million Dollar Deal at the auctions.

  1. Rishi Dhawan

Rishi Dhawan isn’t an unknown commodity in Indian Cricket. The 31-year old cricketer has played 26 matches in the Indian Premier League and three one-day internationals for the Indian Cricket Team. Rishi Dhawan led the Himachal Pradesh team admirably in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

He was the team’s highest run-scorer and the highest wicket-taker in the tournament. In 8 matches, he managed to pick 17 wickets at an average of 23.35. With the bat, he amassed 458 runs at an average of 76.33. Dhawan played an integral role in Himachal Pradesh’s success in the tournament. He picked 3 wickets and scored an unbeaten 42 off 23 in the final match of the tournament.

Keeping in mind his all-round exploits in the tournament, he is likely to bag a million-dollar deal at the auctions.

  1. Yuzvendra Chahal

Royal Challengers Bangalore took everyone by surprise after releasing Yuzvendra Chahal for the next edition of the tournament. Chahal has been a vital cog for RCB in the Indian Premier League, over the years. He has picked the most number of wickets for the franchise in the tournament’s history.

However, the Indian leg-spinner will go back into the auction pool and is likely to play for a new franchise. Yuzvendra Chahal is currently one of the best leg-spinners in world cricket and a lot of franchises would be excited to have him in the squad.

Yuzvendra Chahal is likely to cause a bidding war at the auctions and his performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy have only helped him in rising his stocks further. He picked as many as 14 wickets in just 5 matches at a stellar economy of 4.35 and an average of 15.

  1. Washington Sundar

Royal Challengers Bangalore also decided to let go of Washington Sundar for the next edition of the tournament. Sundar’s multiple skills make him a great choice for any franchise in the T20 tournament. His performances in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy might lead to RCB regretting their decision.

Washington Sundar was superb with the ball. He picked 16 wickets in 8 games at an average of 23.35. Sundar finished Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 as the third-highest wicket-taker. Without a doubt, he will cause a bidding war at the auctions. One shouldn’t get surprised if he bags a million-dollar contract. Washington Sundar has 27 wickets to his name in 42 matches at an economy of under 7 in IPL.

  1. Shahrukh Khan

Despite playing some crucial knocks while batting lower down the order for Punjab Kings in IPL 2021, Shahrukh Khan was released by the franchise for the next edition of the tournament. Given the fact that Indian doesn’t have a lot of big-hitters who can finish the game for the team, it wasn’t an ideal decision by Punjab Kings to not have retained Shahrukh Khan.

The franchise must have been regretting their decision after witnessing Shahrukh Khan’s performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021. He played exceptional knocks in the middle-order, giving the team the finishing touches that he is known for.

Sharukh Khan played a sensational unbeaten 79-run knock off 39 balls against Karnataka in the quarter-final 2 of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. His knock helped the team reach a mammoth 354-run total in the first innings. It was followed by 17 (11) and 42 (21) run cameos in the semi-final and final of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 respectively. Overall, Shahrukh Khan scored 253 runs in 7 innings at a strike rate of over 180.

  1. Shivam Mavi

Shivam Mavi bowled admirably in the second half of the IPL 2021 for Kolkata Knight Riders. Though, in some games, he proved a bit expensive. He played 9 matches in IPL 2021 and picked 11 wickets at an economy of under 8 and an average of 21.18. Despite those contributions, Mavi was released by the franchise ahead of the mega-auctions. Perhaps, they had no other options as they had to choose the likes of Varun Chakravarthy and Venkatesh Iyer ahead of Mavi.

The Indian seamer hit the right lengths and vary his pace wonderfully in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He finished the tournament as the fourth-highest run-scorer with 15 wickets in 7 matches at 17.20. He is likely to bag a million-dollar contract in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.
