I wanted to play for CSK because I haven’t imagined myself playing in other colours: Deepak Chahar
Chahar, who was travelling with Indian team during his auction, said that he was keen in returning back to CSK and wasn’t ready for his bid to go above 13 crore.
“We were travelling from Ahmedabad to Kolkata and we were in the bus, so we were watching the auction on the phone. The whole team was watching it. Everyone was curious to know about the bidding reach,” Chahar told Star Sports.
“So when I reached till 14 (crore bid), then I was thinking I should not go more than this. Because now if CSK pulls out then I will be really sad.
“I wanted to play for CSK because I haven’t imagined myself playing in other colours (teams) rather than yellow. At one point, I was thinking it was too much. After 13 I was thinking the bidding should stop so I can go to CSK and we can go for other players,” he added.
CSK also purchased the likes of Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, Dwayne Bravo and KM Asif.
CSK had retained MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali during the IPL 2022 retention window.
