IPL 2022 auction is all set to be conducted next month. With the addition of two new franchises Ahmedabad and Lucknow, the auction will witness the participation of 10 teams this time. The exact date of the auction is February 12 and 13. The venue of the event in Bengaluru.
So far, the old 8 teams have retained a total of 27 players in their squads. Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Kolkata Knight Riders have retained 4 players each in their squads. Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad have retained 3 players each while Punjab Kings has retained only 2 players.

The two new franchises Lucknow and Ahmedabad were also allowed to sign three players each from the pool of released players. Both the teams have picked 3 players in their squads. Hence, a total of 33 players are already part of the 10 franchises for IPL 2022.
A total of 1214 players have registered themselves for IPL 2022 auction. The BCCI will send the list of these players to all the franchises, who will respond with their interested players. A final draft will be prepared accordingly and about 250 players are expected to go under the hammer.
