West Indian batter Chris Gayle, Australian fast bowler, Mitchell Starc, and England’s all-rounder, Sam Curran, have all opted out of participating in the IPL 2022 mega auction.

As of now, a total of 1214 cricketers have been enlisted in the auction pool. The list was sent to the ten franchises involved in the IPL. The mega auction is scheduled to be held on February 12 & 13 in Bengaluru.

Starc has been opting out of playing in the cash-rich league due to various reasons, keeping himself fresh for Australia in the white-ball formats. As for Curran, the reasoning is unknown as of now.

Joe Root also opts out of entering IPL 2022 auction pool

England captain Joe Root was keen on entering the auction pool but their recent Ashes debacle has forced the 31-year-old to think otherwise. He has now confirmed that he will be giving his 100 percent to England.

It was earlier revealed that England will begin restricting the participation of its premier players in the IPL as the window for the league clashes with their busy summer. Even Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer are not included in the auction pool.

Ahead of the mega auction, the two new franchises, Lucknow and Ahmedabad, confirmed their three draft picks. While Lucknow opted to sign KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Ravi Bishnoi, Ahmedabad went for Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill.
