MS Dhoni’s first match as the comeback Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 finished with success against SunRisers Hyderabad. He assumed control over the job after Ravindra Jadeja surrendered the top post to focus on his own game. Notwithstanding, with Dhoni currently more than 40, the inquiry will be the drawn-out methodology of Chennai Super Kings going ahead.

Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg says that the four-time champions have an extreme undertaking to track down a capable swap for MS Dhoni – the commander – on the off chance that he doesn’t go on next season.

Can’t See A Future CSK Captain In Their Current Squad: Brad Hogg

“Now that MS Dhoni has taken over the role, who is going to be his replacement at the end of the year? Because I can’t see a player on CSK’s team list that can captain this team effectively and efficiently. They will have to go to the auction next year to find a player of captaining ability.

Trying to find an Indian to do the job is going to be hard because all the best Indian T20 players have already been assigned to other franchises,” Hogg, who has played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals, said on his YouTube channel.

CSK May Go For An International Player: Brad Hogg

Hogg added that going for an overseas player may also be an option for Chennai Super Kings.

“They will have to go to an international player. It will be difficult to find a player that will captain the team effectively and will fit into the balance and the game plan that CSK already have in place,” he said.

The 13-run loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday meant Chennai Super Kings are knocked out. With just three wins in 10 games, CSK is 9th on the points table and even if they win all four games, MS Dhoni & Co can reach a maximum of 14 which will not be enough.
