Former Australian fast-bowling all-rounder Shane Watson is all set to get appointed as an assistant coach of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the Indian Premier League 2022.

The 40-year-old has a plethora of experience of playing in the marquee Indian Premier League (IPL) and he has played for the teams like Rajasthan Royals (RR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Also, he has won two IPL championships as a player, one with Rajasthan Royals in 2008 and the other one with Chennai Super Kings in 2018.

With the bat, Watson has scored 3874 runs in 145 IPL games at an average of 31.0 and strike rate of 137.9, with the ball he has managed to scalp 92 wickets at an economy of 7.93 and average of 29.1.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, Delhi Capitals want former Australian all-rounder Watson to join the team’s coaching staff after a recommendation from legendary Australian captain Ricky Ponting, who is the head coach of the Delhi Capitals (DC) team. Also, the report claims that Watson has agreed to become an assistant coach and he will soon sign the contract.

Ajit Agarkar Is Being Tipped To Be Another Assistant Coach Of Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals have parted ways with the assistant coaches Mohammad Kaif and Ajay Ratra and only former Indian batsman Praveen Amre is currently the assistant coach of the Delhi Capitals. According to reports, alongside Shane Watson, he will be joined by former India pacer Ajit Agarkar for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Former pacer Agarkar has already agreed to join the team as an assistant coach and he will join the franchise after completing his commentating duties in the upcoming two-match Test series and three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.

“He will be joining Delhi Capitals as an assistant coach,” an IPL source confirmed to PTI.

Former right-arm pacer Ajit Agarkar has played 26 Tests, 191 One Day Internationals and 4 T20 Internationals for India National Cricket Team. He has picked 58 Test wickets, 288 One Day International wickets and 3 T20 International wickets in his successful career.
