Faf du Plessis’ toughest challenge in the IPL 2022, according to Aakash Chopra, would be leading a high-profile side like the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
At the IPL 2022 Auction, RCB paid 7 crores for Du Plessis. With Virat Kohli having already abruptly resigned as captain, the franchise has handed the captaincy to the South African ace.
Faf Du Plessis, according to Aakash Chopra, has considerable experience as a captain at the top level.
“Faf du Plessis will be in the leadership of a high-profile group. He is well-respected and well-organized. He is skippering for the first time in the IPL, but he has much experience as an international skipper. He’s a well-liked captain,” Aakash Chopra stated
Du Plessis will listen to everyone’s opinions but make the final decision, as per the former India opener.
“He’s always been a vital constituent of the leadership team. As a consequence, when he becomes skipper, he won’t be glancing left-right or over his shoulder, as Sanjay Bangar and Mike Hesson will instruct him. He’ll listen to everyone, but he’ll follow his instincts,” added Chopra.
Aakash Chopra discussed Faf du Plessis’ challenges in IPL:
Faf du Plessis’ toughest challenge, according to Aakash Chopra, would be getting RCB to play as expected.
“His challenge will be that he will be joining a well-known franchise; the performances have not been poor, but it does not meet their expectations, so they appear to be short. With Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell on the side, things appear to be heading in the right direction,” Aakash Chopra further elaborated.
“Living up to those ideals has become a bit troublesome. Their bowling is great, and he’ll take care of it. It’ll be fascinating to see how he handles the lower-middle order and gets the most out of Kohli.”
Faf du Plessis has led South Africa in 40 of the 50 T20 Internationals he has participated in, scoring 1273 runs at an outstanding 37.44 average as captain.
