Former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri opined that Punjab Kings (PBKS) pacer Arshdeep Singh has been brilliant in the IPL 2022 season and could well be breaking into the Indian team very soon.

Arshdeep, playing his 4th IPL season, has been impressive for PBKS after being one of the only two players retained by the franchise. Their faith in him has been reposed time and again by the 23-year-old youngster.

For someone so young and then to deliver time and time again when the chips are down and the pressure is on him (it’s brilliant to see). This shows he’s moving up the ranks very quickly and he could be walking into the Indian team,” Shastri told Star Sports.

“I think a break is ideal for him” – Ravi Shastri on Virat Kohli

Following Virat Kohli‘s performances in the IPL 2022 season, Shastri advised the 33-year-old to take a break from the IPL and try to come back stronger in the international circuit.

I think a break is ideal for him because he has played non-stop cricket and he has captained the side across all formats. It will be wise of him to take a break. You know, sometimes you have to draw the balance.”

This year he is already into the tournament (IPL 2022), tomorrow if push comes to shove and you want to prolong your international career and make a mark there for 6-7 years, pull out of the IPL, for all you care,” Shastri mentioned.

Kohli had two golden ducks in a row following which he was asked to open the batting against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday. Unfortunately, it didn’t pan out once again for Kohli as he fell for a 10-ball 9.
