IPL 2022: Franchise Picking Jofra Archer Not Allowed To Get His Replacement For 15th Edition Of The Tournament – Reports

Star England pacer Jofra Archer has enlisted his name for the IPL 2022 mega auction, which is scheduled to take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. He has set his base price at INR 2 crore.

Originally, Archer hadn’t registered for the marquee T20 league but he made it to the final list announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday, February 1.

However, it’s highly unlikely that the star pacer will be participating in the Indian Premier League 2022 tournament as he is still recovering from the elbow injury and is not fully fit to compete. Archer is expected to play the 2023 and 2024 seasons of the Indian Premier League so the teams will be looking at him as the future investment.

“The ECB has registered Archer for the auction with a view to potential participation in 2023 and 2024, as due to his current injury it is unlikely that he can participate in IPL 2022,” the BCCI wrote to the franchises providing a list of 44 new names that have been added to the register.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already informed the franchises that Archer won’t feature in a marquee or other sets and he will available to be called only during the accelerated auction.

Also, the BCCI had made it clear to the franchises that they will be picking the pacer at their own risk because they will not be allowed to get a replacement for Archer during the Indian Premier League 2022.

“He won’t feature in the Marquee or other sets to be presented. He will be available to be called during the accelerated auction and whoever picks him will not get a replacement player for IPL 2022 season for his place as he is already injured and unlikely to participate in IPL 2022 season,” the BCCI has written to IPL franchises, the Cricbuzz has reported.
