Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan mentioned the reason behind Ambati Rayudu’s retirement announcement from IPL.

On Saturday (May 14), the Chennai Super Kings middle-order batter took to his official Twitter handle to announce his retirement from the cash-rich league at the end of IPL 2022.

I am happy to announce that this will be my last IPL. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being part of 2 great teams for 13 years.

“Would like to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and Csk for the wonderful journey,” he tweeted on Saturday.

Minutes after his sudden announcement, Rayudu deleted the tweet from his Twitter timeline.

The CSK CEO confirmed Rayudu won’t be leaving the four-time IPL champions and possibly tweeted over his poor run in IPL 2022.

No no he’s not retiring. Maybe he wasn’t happy with his performances and might have put it out. Just a psychological thing, I reckon. He’ll be with us,” Viswanathan clarified, as reported by News 9 journalist Subhayan Chakraborty.

Ambati Rayudu scored  271 runs in IPL 2022 so far

Rayudu scored 271 runs in 10 innings at an average of 27.1 and a strike rate of 124.31 in IPL 2022 so far. His 39-ball 78 runs against Punjab Kings went in vain as CSK lost by 11 runs.

Rayudu started his IPL journey with Mumbai Indians and after 10 years of association with the five-time IPL winners, he moved to CSK in 2018.

In his first season with the MS Dhoni-led side, Rayudu slammed 602 runs in 16 innings with three fifties and a century as CSK lifted the third title in their comeback season after serving a two-year ban.

Coming to IPL 2022, CSK suffered eight losses in 12 games and are out of contention after a five-wicket loss to Mumbai Indians on Thursday (May 12).

Ahead of IPL 2022, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was named the new captain of the team. After six losses in eight matches, Jadeja returned the captain’s armband to MS Dhoni.

CSK will play their next match of IPL 2022 against Gujarat Titans on Sunday (May 15) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
