IPL 2022: Highest Run-Scorer For MI This Season Will Be Suryakumar Yadav - Aakash Chopra

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra reckoned that despite missing the first match, Suryakumar Yadav will end up as the highest run-getter for 5-time champions, Mumbai Indians, in the IPL 2022 season.

Chopra feels that Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan are the other two contenders but the former has struggled to score in the last few seasons. As for Ishan, his mega auction price tag might play a part in his performances.

“Who can be the highest run-scorer? There are three big contenders here. Rohit Sharma is otherwise an absolute rockstar in white-ball cricket but he hasn’t scored too many runs for the Mumbai Indians. That is a bit of a concern.”

“He hasn’t had a 600-run season. Ishan Kishan is another guy, they have bought him for INR 15.25 crores. The highest run-scorer for the Mumbai Indians this season is going to be Suryakumar Yadav even though he will miss the first match,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Since MI will be missing the services of Hardik Pandya, they will be relying on the likes of Kieron Pollard and Tim David to score big and fast. Chopra revealed that the latter even has the reputation of being a six-hitter.

“Who will have the highest strike rate? Kieron Pollard says he is there, Ishan Kishan says he will play in the powerplay and hit a lot but I am saying, Tim David. They say he is a six-hitting machine. So I am going with Tim David to have the highest strike rate,” he added.

Considering the squad they have put together, Chopra doesn’t think that MI can qualify for the playoffs this time around. “Where can this team finish? I feel the Mumbai Indians will not be able to qualify this time,” Chopra concluded.
