Hardik Pandya, as per former Australian spinner Brad Hogg, is the finest captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 so far. At the midway stage of the season, the all-rounder has guided Gujarat Titans (GT) to the top of the points table.

Pandya began his leadership with a win over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and the squad has been riding high ever since. Even without Pandya, the Titans won by three wickets in Pune, defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Brad Hogg, who believes Pandya has the potential to captain India’s white-ball team in the future, remarked on his YouTube channel:

“You’re raising the cream to the top if you’ve got a dominant bowling attack. Hardik Pandya leads the Gujarat Titans brilliantly. Thus far in the IPL 2022, I believe he has been the best captain.

Brad Hogg went on to say: “In two years, I wouldn’t be astonished if he dominates India in white-ball cricket. He’s the boss; he’s the one who grabs the bull by the horns. When the stakes are high, he prefers to be present at the moment and take it on.”

“When the game is close, Pandya will give himself the ball”: Brad Hogg

The newly designated GT captain has been tasked with bowling the new ball upfront as well as the difficult overs at the finish. With an economy rate of 7.57, he has four wickets in five games.

Brad Hogg praised Pandya for taking charge, saying, “When the game is on the line and he’s facing the opposition’s best batter, he’ll hand the ball over to himself. Even though he has the finest bowling attack in the league with Shami, Ferguson, Alzarri, and Dayal, he will not delegate the task to anyone else.”

When the Gujarat Titans face the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the DY Patil Stadium on April 23, they will try to extend their advantage atop the table on Saturday.
