Indian left-arm pacers have been a revelation in the ongoing season of IPL. The likes of Arshdeep Singh, Mohsin Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed have all been very impressed with the ball.

One other bowler on that list is Chennai Super King’s new-ball bowler Mukesh Choudhary.

Mukesh Choudhary Has Been Decent For CSK In IPL 2022

Chennai Super Kings spent heavily in the mega auctions to buy Deepak Chahar back. But an injury to the bowling all-rounder ruled him out of the competition. Deepak Chahar has been one of the most impressive bowlers with the new ball over the years in the IPL. So when he was ruled out of the competition, CSK was looking at various options in their squad who could replace Chahar.

They entrusted 25-year-old Mukesh Choudhary with the responsibility. Choudhary was with CSK last year as a net bowler and he had bowled to all the premier batters in the nets. He impressed the management during his stint as a net bowler last year and hence he was picked at his base price in the mega auctions.

Mukesh Choudhary did not have the best of starts to the tournament as after the first four games, he wasn’t still at his best with the new ball. But as the tournament progressed, and with proper guidance from the team management, he improved his game and delivered a player of the match performance against Mumbai Indians.

In CSK’s last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he again showed his potential as he turned the game with back-to-back wickets in the last over of the powerplay to put SRH on the backfoot. He ended the game with 4 for 46. He has 11 wickets to his name in 8 games so far and he has looked like an improved bowler in every game that he has played.

In a recent interview with Times Of India, he revealed the role Australian great Glenn McGrath played in his career.

“I spent a lot of time at MRF pace academy. McGrath taught me how to control line and length. He said you must always dominate a batter. I learned a lot from him. He guided me and taught me how to increase my speed and finger position”, Choudhary told TOI.

CSK would hope that Mukesh continues to deliver with the ball as the franchise looks to upset teams in the upper half of the points table.
